Description Glass slide with black and white photograph of a marked tree, surrounded by a sandstone wall and a fence. A plaque on the wall reads "This wall and fence has been erected by the Hon. J.S. Farnell, Esq., Minister for Lands, to preserve this tree marked by Blaxland Lawson Wentworth being the farthest distance reached in their first attempt to cross the Blue Mountains in the month of May, A.D. 1813". Handwritten text in purple texta on the glass slide reads "tree Katoomba" at the top and "Mark tree Katoomba" at the bottom. The glass slide border is torn at top left. Held in case (2001.15.145).
