William Lawson

Description
William Lawson (1774-1850) was an officer in the New South Wales Corps who arrived in New South Wales in 1800. In 1810, he returned briefly to England before accepting a commission in the NSW Veterans. Together with Gregory Blaxland and William Wentworth, Lawson successfully crossed the Blue Mountains in 1813, opening up lands to the west for colonists. He established himself on a grant of land on the Campbell River, near Bathurst.
