Description
Doll's house and accessories, standing on a base board. The house comprises a shell with sliding removable panels at the front and the back exposing two rooms, with a hinged roof section opening to reveal an attic room. The exterior walls are decorated with a white plaster pebble-effect finish and a dark tile-effect roof. The interior houses 56 miniature domestic accessories including furniture, kitchen equipment, human figures, animals and rugs. Some of them are made from bread dough. The base board represents the garden area, with 21 miniature accessories including garden beds and borders, benches, a wishing well, beehives and birdhouses.
The house is a copy of a house featured in a popular children's book of the period, titled 'Millicent Mouse and Her Funny Wee House' by Arthur Mansbridge, Frederick Warne & Co Ltd, London. The book was illustrated by Jessie May Ellerby.
