Sydney Town Planning

Description
Governor Lachlan Macquarie announced new plans and buildings for Sydney in 1810. The program included a hospital, to be built by the surgeon D'Arcy Wentworth, pastoralist Alexander Riley, and trader Garnham Blaxcell. Sydney streets were given new, permanent names such as George, Market and Castlereagh. Macquarie also named two parks, Hyde Park and Macquarie Place, in the town precincts.
