Martial Law in Bathurst

Description
Governor Thomas Brisbane declared martial law against Aboriginal people across the western districts near Bathurst on 14 August 1824. Additional troops were sent to bolster the 40th Regiment at Bathurst after a series of violent conflicts with Wiradjuri people in the area. There were deaths on both sides over four months, till a peace deal was struck and martial law repealed.
