Introduced Species

Description
European settlement introduced new exotic species of plants and animals to the Australian continent. Many of these species, such as wheat, cattle and sheep, were domesticated varieties introduced for agricultural purposes. Others, such as rabbits and trout, were introduced by colonists who wanted to 'improve' the landscape, providing familiar species to hunt as game. Many of these species had dramatic effects on native species.
