Outbreak of disease

Description
An outbreak of whooping cough in 1828 caused deaths throughout New South Wales, including that of Governor Ralph Darling's son Edward. The disease was carried by infected children of soldiers on board the transport ship Morley, which arrived from Dublin in 1828. Attempts to quarantine the disease failed.
