Darling River

Description
The Darling River is one of Australia's longest inland waterways. It flows from the Culgoa River south to the Murray River through western New South Wales for approximately 1390kms. The river was part of the important Murray-Darling inland paddle-steamer route from the 1860s, with port facilities as far upstream as Wilcannia. Today, land west of the river is considered increasingly marginal for farming. The area is often affected by drought and high temperatures in summer.
