Conflict at Sydney

Description
Governor Phillip Gidley King gave orders licensing armed settlers to drive Aboriginal people from the Parramatta, Georges River and Prospect Hill areas in 1801. This was in retaliation for the killing of government stock-keeper Daniel Conroy by an Aboriginal party, possibly led by the warrior Pemulwuy. In 1802, Pemulwuy was killed by two settlers, though doubt remains about the precise circumstances of his death.
