Burke and Wills expedition

Description
Robert O'Hara Burke and William John Wills set out from Melbourne in 1860 at the head of an exploration party attempting to cross the continent from south to north. At Coopers Creek, South Australia, Burke and Wills, together with John King and Charles Gray, split from the main party to speed their passage to the Gulf of Carpentaria. Gray died on the return journey and the others limped into their Coopers Creek base camp to find the rest of their party had departed hours earlier. Burke and Wills died attempting to reach Mount Hopeless, but King was kept alive by Aboriginal people till his rescue in 1861.
