Bathurst
Description Bathurst was established in 1815 after the successful crossing of the Blue Mountains by explorers Gregory Blaxland, William Lawson and William Wentworth. Located 200kms west of Sydney, the town was named after the Secretary of State, Lord Bathurst. Pastoralism spread through the area before the discovery of gold led to rapid growth in the 1850s.
