Description
A Ransomes, Sims and Jefferies 4 NHP, portable steam engine, Serial No 18053. The cylindrical steam engine boiler and large flywheel high up on the left side are painted green. The front panel, including the short exhaust stack and the arch shaped firebox at the rear, is painted black. It has an undercarriage of four red painted spoked metal wheels, and the front two are smaller than those at the rear. A two-rung ladder is fixed to right side. The fire box has two red painted rectangle metal plates with serial number and agent information embossed on them. There is an oval red and gold painted metal panel with the serial number on it on the side of the top of the boiler. There are brass and grey metal fittings on the top and side of the engine many of which have numbers and manufacturer names on. The door of the firebox has manufacturer information embossed on it.
