we're changing

View of a triangular entry into the dream house in the Garden of Australian Dreams.

The National Museum of Australia's vision is to be a world-class museum exploring Australia's past, illuminating the present and imagining the future.

The Museum offers visitors something new every time they visit. The gallery development project will take place over two years and will allow the Museum to share previously unseen treasures and to show recent acquisitions.

What we're doing

The revolving Circa theatre is being refurbished and will take visitors on a unique visual journey through history from deep time to contemporary Australia.

The Horizons gallery is becoming Australian Journeys, an exhibition about the many voyages that connect Australia to the world.

Circa and Horizons are currently closed but there is still plenty to enjoy at the Museum. Visit the permanent galleries or a special exhibition, participate in a program or take a guided tour.
