Aims and objectives

Copyright in Cultural Institutions (CICI) is a working group of copyright and intellectual property managers in cultural institutions in the ACT.

Aim

To assist its members and to raise awareness of intellectual property (IP) within cultural institutions.

Objectives

The objectives of CICI are to:

  • provide a discussion forum in which members are able to share processes and procedures and explore the possibility of uniformity in some processes and procedures
  • act as a lobbying platform providing a forum where members may discuss their position on proposed legislation and new policy, and where members may present their position to government departments such as Attorney-General's or Department of Communication Information Technology and the Arts. CICI may present joint submissions or may utilise its members' positions as members of the Australian Digital Alliance (ADA) to request ADA lobby on their behalf
  • facilitate continual training of its members by organising educational and information sessions and by approaching education providers to present courses and training of relevance to its members
  • support liaison with similar organisations in other states or countries.
