Business planning

Business planning is central to the Museum’s delivery of outcomes and outputs for its stakeholders. Museum business units implement annual business plans that are linked to the Museum’s strategic plan, corporate plan, business priorities and budgets. Business planning identifies key risks and risk mitigation for the delivery of these priorities.

Organisational Structure as at 30 June 2017

The Director is shown above five divisions:  Directorate, Operations (Chief Operating Officer), Collections and Content (Deputy Director), Programs and Engagement (Deputy Director), Visitor Services (Associate Director).  The Directorate includes: Executive Support and Liaison, Public Affairs, Senior Indigenous Advisor.  Operations includes: Facilities and Security, Finance, Governance and Legal Services, Human Resources, Information Technology, Design and Planning.  Collections and Content includes: Conservation, Registration, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program, Australian Society and History, People and the Environment, Collections Development Unit, Research Centre (Library). Programs and Engagement includes: Digital and Content Services, Exhibition Projects and Interpretation, Gallery Development, Learning Services and Community Outreach, Marketing and Partnerships.  Visitor Services and Development includes:  Retail Operations, Visitor and Membership Services, Tourism Development, Venues and Bookings are listed under Visitor Services and Development.
